Water Sports
Loch Ken is an ideal centre to enjoy all water sports - wind surfing,
sailing, rowing, canoeing and water skiing. The loch
is zoned for the different activities. A system of registration
for all motorised craft is in force. The rules and conditions concerning
zoning must be observed at all times.
Visitors bringing their own
boats to the Park must observe carefully all rules and conditions
below.
All motor boats must be registered
before launching.
Registration fees - Annual:
These are due for all motor boats on the loch and are payable
to Dumfries and Galloway Council. Visitors to Loch Ken Holiday
Park can register in advance at the Planning Services Office, 4
Market Street, Castle Douglas (Tel: 01556 502 351). Registration
can otherwise be done at the Park Shop.
PLEASE NOTE:
Owners of motor boats
over 6HP MUST have their own third party insurance. Insurance
documents MUST be shown in order to register.
Current prices:
Over 6HP - First reg £24.00 p.a. - Renewal £16.00
p.a.
Under 6HP - First reg £16.00 p.a. - Renewal £8.00
p.a.
Registration boards for inflatables £5.50 pair.
Ski Boats:
There may be a system brought in to limit the number of ski boats
in use on the loch at any one time. This is under consideration
by the Loch Ken Management Committee.
Parking / Launching / Mooring Fees :
All boats brought onto the Park by road or water, for Loch Ken
use, will be charged as shown below. Payable to Loch Ken Holiday
Park.
Ski Boat - £20.00 per day, £50.00 2-7 days
Motor Boat - £10.00 per day, £30.00 4-7 days
Sailing / Windsurfing / Rowing / Canoe - £4.00
per day, £15.00 4-7 days
Inflatable with engine - £6.00 per day, £20.00 4-7 days
