Birdwatching / Galloway Red Kite Trail

Loch Ken Holiday Park is home of the Parton Walk and viewpoint, part of the Galloway Red Kite Trail, where you can see the Red Kites in all their glory. It is a 1km walk along the edge of pasture and woodland to reach an elevated viewpoint overlooking Loch Ken and the surrounding area. Kites can be seen from any part of this walk at any time of year. Just a short drive away is the Ballymack Hill Farm (feeding station), where you can see these majestic birds feeding.

Other birds to look out for around and about include the nuthatch, willow tit, great-spotted woodpecker, goldcrest, sparrowhawk, barn owl, buzzard, red grouse, black grouse, oyster catcher, greylag, & heron etc...
